Brian Maurer Director of Film Production, Assistant Teaching Professor Office Location: 205 Academic Support Center Office Hours: 11am to 1pm M/W; By Appointment Brian Maurer is an Assistant Teaching Professor and serves as the Director of Film Production for the Film Studies Program. He is a ten year veteran of the film industry and has been nominated for a Regional Emmy Award for his work on a documentary about the devastating tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri. Through the two film production companies he owns, Maurer has completed dozens of short films, some of which have screened at international film festivals. He’s completed three feature films as producer and director, and currently is working on a fourth. Maurer teaches eight media courses for the film studies department, leading as Director of Film Production at the University of Missouri. He leads an internship experience for students during the summer intersession through a collaboration between the program and local private film production businesses. He has worked for national broadcast companies in the audio field, and for local and governmental agencies, doing video production and advertising.
