Film in Columbia

**News**

Box Elder, an indie movie that was filmed on location at MU, is on Netflix Instant Watch. The film is already available through Video on Demand and will be available soon on both Amazon Streaming and Cinema Now as well. The DVD can be purchased at the University Bookstore.

MU Film Prodution Club:
A student organization dedicated to educating and providing opportunities for its members in all aspects of the filmmaking process. It accomplishes this by establishing connections in the local, regional and national level film communities. MU FPC works with professionals working in the film industry and MU faculty and staff to bring experiential knowledge to students interested in filmmaking. There are four departments in the organization (loosely framed on departments in real production), including Grip and Electric, Production, Cast, and Writing and Editing. MU FPC is always looking to expand, so if you are interested in getting involved or just getting some information go to their Facebook page, or follow them on twitter @MizzouFilmProd.

True-False Film Festival

At the beginning of March each year Columbia is host to The True-False Film Festival. This event attracts the best new documentary films each year, including those that gained the top awards and best reviews at the Sundance Film Festival. True-False has become a favorite of both American and international documentary filmmakers, and many of them accompany their entries to Columbia. This provides students with an excellent opportunity to participate in discussions and workshops with both world-renown directors of documentary film and young filmmakers who are just breaking onto the scene. It also gives students the chance to work in the festival as interns and gain valuable first-hand experience in the field.

Citizen Jane Film Festival

Held yearly in the fall this film festival features female filmmakers. The film festival began as a lecture series in 2004 at Stephens College and evolved into FemFilm in 2006 and finally Citizen Jane Film Festival in 2008.
